September 15, 2004 - More on SP2

Well, I've just installed SP2 on my laptop. You didn't think my previous article was based of my primary PC, did you? I was actually surprised how well it went off. Since the issues I reported earlier, research has found that an interesting 'flaw' was the cause of the failed installs. In short, some motherboards don't fully follow Intel's guidelines and report their microcode revisions. Although information differs on whether this revisions needs to be greater then zero or greater then seven, this seems to be the cause of the no longer working copies of XP. I will put links and more information in my next post regarding this, and that will be an actual installed.

As for my lack of posting, I am working on a big big article, that I will probably have to break up into multiple segments. Unfortunately, it's one of the stories that I need to be very attentive to, and its taking a long time to finish. I don't feel right about segmenting the story until it's properly and fully written.
